Parties & A Cold!

Things have been okay since we last spoke. The lil'guy came down with a cold on Saturday: a cough, runny nose, mild fever...the works. Besides being a little clingy and taking some longer naps, he's handling it better than I do. Though we sure feel bad for him. Knock on wood (no, really, go ahead and knock...I'll wait) because neither Lisa nor I have gotten it yet.

Friday night we had friends over in honor of Auntie Sarah's birthday...eight adults and five babies. It was a blast, albeit much different than the birthday parties of yesteryear. When we finally got dinner served and everyone was attending to their own babies and plates, Lisa suddenly noticed, "Nobody got wine!" Sure enough, the bottle was open - and full. With that many kiddos in the house, we should've skipped the food and gone straight for the wine. But we're all new at this and I doubt we'll make the same mistake again. After the party, as I was picking up the toys carpeting every inch of our house, I couldn't help but think how awesome it is to share this new chapter of life with the same people we used to hit the bars with.

The rest of the weekend was relatively mild. We had a lazy Saturday morning with a walk to Starbucks and around the neighborhood. The afternoon was spent just putzing around the house. That evening goddaughter Gracie came over and spent the night while her parents went to a "Gala." There were lots of leftovers from Friday, so we had the family over to help tackle them. Suddenly, there were seven adults and four kids in the house again for a impromptu party. Cousins Sara and Haley played for hours with Gracie while we burned through some of that leftover wine (the family is much more experienced when it comes to priorities).

Sunday, we had a nice leisurely breakfast with Gracie's parents, hit the farmers market, ran an errand or two, and then relaxed at home since E's illness started to get worse. We're focusing on getting E well in time for the fun (planned and otherwise) coming!
