The kiddo is learning stuff so fast, it's hard to keep track. This week he's learned how to use his "sit'n'stand" type walker to explore the house and walk with us down the street. He also learned how to use a "push walker" to get around the house (Thanks, Nana and Papa!). He shouts "BA!" in the exact same tone as Nana calls, "Brian!" when it's dirty diaper time. He can bite through a mandarin orange, peel and all, which means I guess they aren't the safe ball-like toys I thought they'd be. And he can "give you 'one'" E.T. style, and especially loves it when you make electrical zzzt-zzzt-zzzt sounds at contact. He also finds almost everything Cousin Kevin says hilarious.
Easter was fun, particularly since Nana and Papa are in town. On Good Friday, we took him to see the Easter Bunny. At first sight, E clung to me and screamed...eventually, we calmed him down and I carefully backed into the Bunny's house, keeping the big, scary rodent out of E's view. When I was close enough, I turned around and plopped him in EB's arms, ducking like I was in 'Nam. The photographer was a pro and caught a decent shot before the lil'man completely lost it, while the rest of us, including Uncle Bri, made fools of ourselves in the middle of the mall. Ahh, what we'll do for a picture.
Despite the possibly insulting meeting at the mall, the Big Bunny visited lil'E and supplied him with a new book, some bubbles, and a big boy Cars plate/utensils . We managed to make it to 7:30 AM Mass and then had a big breakfast with the fam which held us over until it was time for an even bigger meal over at Uncle Ron's. There was WAY too much delicious food (surprise, surprise).
Also, at the Easter party, Cousin Tracy gave E his first hair cut. He was surprisingly well-behaved with minimal fussing and survived without drawing a drop of blood. The new-do makes him look all that much more like a Big'E than a lil'one.
So far the rest of this week has been fun and it's been great having Nana & Papa (and their pups) staying with us because they've been soooo helpful. Food magically appears on the table. Laundry is folded and put away without lifting my finger. The dogs are walked and fed before I even get home from work. And all while they're babysitting. They're doing better than when I was Mr. Mom! Lisa and I commented the other day that we weren't sure what to do with all the extra time - I almost felt guilty. But we're just enjoying it (and the company) because we know pretty soon they'll have to head home (for this trip) and we'll be back in the hustle'n'bustle.
