Lots to celebrate!

Boy, do we.
Happy first Mother's Day, Mommy.
First, yesterday was Evan's actual due date. Wild to think that he was supposed to stay in that warm little womb until around now. I gotta say: for as much of a surprise as it came, I'm so happy he popped out early. As Opa says, he saved us a whole month worth of anxious anticipation. Plus, we got weeks extra to get to know the lil'man.
Gettin' cut in my baby gym. Watch out, ladies.
Which bring us to the fact that today E is FOUR WEEKS! We can't believe how relentlessly fast the dude changes. It's impossible to catch every moment, no matter how hard we try (or how awesome my new camera is).

We miss you Grandma!
As y'all know, last weekend was Mother's Day (or if you didn't...I'll wait while you quickly go and beg for your mom's forgiveness). On Saturday, we took Evan to Grandma Anna's grave site in commemoration. It was a beautiful day and we had a nice time hanging out in the cemetery.
Sunday, we took Evan to Mass and then to coffee - his first time attending the family tradition. After behaving himself at church and the coffee shop, it was time for a diaper change before running errands. We laid him in the back of our Honda Pilot and proceeded with scary efficiency (yes, yes, you can see where this story is headed). Just as we finished the wipe down there was a gurgle from deep within the infant's tummy and....well, the you know what hit the EVERYTHING: From the clean diaper to a couple feet into the parking lot. Though he was considerate and missed our church clothes.

As Papa would say, "Poop-pedoes LAUNCHED!"
'Nough said.
After we giggled for an eon and cleaned up, we ended the weekend with a great party at Uncle Ron / Aunt Vicki's. There was a lot of talk about Grandma Anna, seeing as this was the first Mother's Day she wasn't around. There's some sort of poetical symmetry to the fact that we lost one mother and gained another this year. Throughout the whole evening, we could just hear Grandma's comments about Evan. The loudest being, "Oh, he's just PERFECT!"

And, know what, Grandma?
You're right.
Poop-pedo and all.
Party time for dogs too.
E loves his Opa.

  1. Love the pics! So glad you took him to gramma Anna's resting place! I'm sure she gave him a big hug and kiss and bon voyage before he came to earth!
