We decided to take E to see Santa at the mall last Wednesday evening...thinking it'd be less crowded at the huge Valley Fair Mall on a weeknight. Okay, it might've been less crowded, but that doesn't mean it was empty either. The wait was a good hour long. E was asleep and we knew he'd need to nurse soon after waking up. Looking at the line wrapping around, we made a game time decision to book it to another, less popular mall (which, of course, Santa agreed to meet us at on his way to the North Pole). Sure enough, on the drive over, the little guy woke up and was hungry. We arrived at Vallco Mall at 6:50pm without any idea of where to find Santa. We were thinking it'd be best to find him and feed E while we waited. Of course, there was a big sign at the entrance saying that Santa was headed back to his workshop at 7pm. I've heard Vallco described as dead enough to film a zombie apocolypse movie, but in this case, it made our frantic dash much easier. We arrived in the nick of time (ba-dum-ching) with one family in front of us. Lisa gave E a power snack and then we got a good pic of him and Santa before the adrenaline wore off.
The weekend consisted of dinners, shopping, taking the Christmas card pic (yes, yes, we're a little late), shopping, furniture moving, shopping, making the Christmas card, shopping, visiting our good friends the Infelises, and more shopping. The good news is that we got most everyone's Xmas presents, the cards made, and survived to tell the tale. (Thanks again, Vallco).
And in the midst of it all: Evan is getting his first teeth. TEETH. The poor kid has the two bottom-front teeth just cutting the gums. All-in-all, he's been a trooper about it and has yet to transform into the demon people talk about teething babies becoming. But a big milestone!
Today, E visited my office for a Kid's Xmas party. Though he (sorta) liked seeing Santa again and seeing all his baby-friends, he really liked my office chair. Maybe he'll be cut out for the corporate world - who knows? Now, we're gearing up for Tante Ness and Tanner's visit, hosting Xmas Eve dinner, and the big day itself. It's a whirlwind, but it's a fun one.
Hope everyone else is getting a good dose of the holiday spirit too!
