Heat Wave and Oma's B-day!

Hi, everyone. The post below is a little bit behind...recounting the weekend before the fourth. I'm going to try my hardest to get a second posting up this week to bring us current. Wish me luck and until then, enjoy.

That week was hot-Hot-HOT (per no-AC NorCal standards), but we managed. After being gone for a couple nights of a business trip, Lisa got home early enough on Friday the 28th to play with E out in the backyard and his "splish-splash table" which also happens to be at the perfect dog drinking height--so everyone stayed cool. That evening the house was unreasonably warm, so we walked over to Central Park to scope out the Silicon Valley BBQ competition. We ate our way through the samples and the fund-raising food booths as we ran into several old friends. In the shade, the evening turned out to be a perfect temperature. Everyone had a great time.

Saturday morning (6/29) we walked to the Country Inn for breakfast with Opa and Uncle Brian. It was their last weekend in that location and they'll have their doors closed for almost a year. It was delicious and E fell in love with Swedish pancakes all over again. For lunch, we trooped back over to Central Park with E in his push car. We saw more friends and the big guy got to ride the train AND the cars around the little lake. The day really started to heat up as we walked back home, but luckily the house was cool enough for E to nap. That evening the Balyons came over and all the kids played with the water in the backyard before we walked--for the third time--to Central Park. More food. More train/car rides. More running into friends and family.

After church, breakfast, and shoe shopping on Sunday (6/30) morning, we met up with Auntie Jen and Hailey over at the Balyons for baby pool time in their backyard (told you: it was hot-Hot-HOT). All the kiddos had a blast and it was really nice out there. We didn't know what to do with ourselves since the BBQ was over, so we just went home and we all took a nap (I know, awesome, huh?). We had a nice dinner with Uncle Brian and E discovered a food that ranks close to oatmeal: Corn on the cob. It's borderline obsession.

That Monday night, we went out in celebration of a big day: Oma's b-day. E, as usual, loved the ice cream and singing. We were all very excited because Tante Ness was coming into town for the long weekend! Plus, the heat wave was supposed to break. All-in-all, it was looking to be a great holiday.

To be continued...
