Currently, we're in the midst of a whirlwind of home improvements. Don't ask me what got into our systems because I've no clue. We spent the last two weekends painting the interior living room, family room, and hallway, and selecting new light fixtures. This week we are getting a new roof installed and selecting a contractor for a new heater. It's taken some time, but our casa is ever-so-slowly moving from 1964 to 2014. And we can't thank the immediate family enough for all of their help.
E was a big help this weekend, too. He dressed in the Kelly-Moore painting hat that Uncle Brian brought over for him, grabbed a foam brush, and walked around "painting" the walls. It was just water, but he definitely got the idea. And if we were too slow refilling his paint can (read: plastic bowl), he'd find the dogs' water bowl and use that for his next coat. Now that the walls are various shades of tan (with one killer red accecnt wall), we're very happy with the results.
While all the guys painted, Lisa and Oma made the biggest batch of homemade chicken soup, which we've enjoyed for several meals. It wasn't an all-work weekend. On Sunday evening, Uncle Mark's family had all of us over for some of Aunt Dasha's gorge-worthy meatloaf (and famished from painting, gorge I did). E loved playing with his cousins Sara and Hailey and their new kitties.
All week, E and Opa have been having fun in the construction site that's the front of our house. Lots and lots of trucks. The kid is in heaven.
On the E front, he's cutting not one--not two--but his first THREE molars this week. Ouch! I can't imagine it feels good, but he's handling it better than I would. And it hasn't stopped him for learning a very, very important thing: his name!
