Extreme Baby-ing!

The pics on this post are from E's portraits which we had taken around his 2 week mark. Aren't they GREAT?! (There's more, but I'm going to be a tease and slowly post them for ya).

This week has been relatively calm in the Ballou pack with just a scattering of visitors, lunches, and outings. A very pleasant time for all of us (though we're missing Auntie Vanessa while she's out of town). The major event was Lisa's final baby shower thrown by her office (it was supposed to be the week E was born). Neither of us can believe how generous the employees there are!

As a new dad, I've been getting questions regarding the change in lifestyle. Here's one of my thoughts:

We gravitate toward activities which require a lot of gear and prep...skiing, backpacking, scuba diving...all almost take more time getting ready than the action itself. But so does having a baby! Going to the grocery store or lunch means you have to have the diaper bag packed with the enough changes of clothes, diapers, wipes, toys, bottles, and blankets. Then there's the matter of the baby carrier vs. the stroller. And which stroller. When is the baby likely to be hungry again? Did I bring the camera? Oh, it's a logistical field day. As a pair of planners, this lifestyle is just plain fun for Lisa and I. So while we might not log the number of dives this year as I'm used to, but I'm starting to count trips to the mall or the park. It's a sport I'm labeling: Extreme Baby-ing.

Ok, I better get going: We're due for a dinner in T minus 2 hours.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend, everyone!
