Go Giants!

Since our last post, we've had a grand'ole time. E and Opa had a very successful week at Opa's Daycare. Lots of visitors, baking, gardening, and walks (I imagine there were a few bottles and diaper changes in there, too). Like most working parents, being back at work isn't the easiest thing in the world - mostly for the fact that there are only a few waking hours that we get to share with E. But we're doing our best to keep those hours sacred and focused on us as a family.  Though I'll be the first to admit, Lisa and I (and E) are sure lucky to have such a great guy watching our lil'guy.

Work was on the crazy side for both Lisa and myself - I had day trips to both Santa Cruz and Flagstaff. So it was with great excitement when we dressed E in his Orange and Black for his first GIANTS game on Friday night! Moments before leaving, he was uncharacteristically fussy - to the point where we were unsure if we'd even make it to San Francisco. However, I think he was just impatient for the outing since there was not a whine out of him from the moment we left, through the entire game, and even until the next day. He stayed awake far longer than I thought he would, too, absorbing all the lights and sounds and new faces. Uncle Brian scored the whole game by hand and is going to give it to lil'E in honor of the occasion. Sooo cool. To top it all off, the boys-in-orange won over the Atlanta Braves 5 to 3.

Saturday found us at a German-inspired BBQ for a friend's 30th. Then E stayed at Oma/Opa's while Lisa and I attended another b-day party...this one was a cooking class followed by an elegant dinner of the food we cooked. Really fun and really a cool idea. Sunday marked the one-year anniversary since Grandma Anna's passing. The family had a nice brunch at the Country Inn - her personal favorite - discussing what she'd say about all that's changed in the past year. We quickly stopped by Roger's to wish him a happy 30th and then met with Jasmine and Gavin for a park play date / walk. Lisa and E headed to her parents' for Sunday dinner and I met with some writing friends visiting in the area. Justifiably exhausted, we all hit the sack early - already looking forward to the coming long weekend.

Over the last week, we've noticed a big difference in E's head-holding capabilities. Evidently, his neck muscles are finally catching up with the weight of his cheeks. He still loves his gym - especially, the one at Oma/Opa's house which makes forest noises (hmmm...hopefully we've got a camper on our hands). Tummy Time still must only be attempted under the best of circumstances. We're extremely lucky, about 75% of the time, he'll sleep through the night. After being born with a full head of dark hair, it's slowly thinned over the last four months...though Lisa still takes off his hat to show people. Actually, he does still have plenty of hair, just most of it is a 'monk do' (see pic). It seems the top is starting to re-fill, except much lighter than before. So the jury is still out on the color. On the other hand, his eyes are still blue as ever.

Until next week: Have a great one!
