Last week was a challenging one. On Tuesday, I left for a business trip and on Wednesday Lisa came home from work with a pretty bad fever. I felt horrible about being away, but luckily, Oma and Opa were able to take lil'E for the night. I made it home on Thursday afternoon and even though they couldn't have much contact, it was touching to see E and Lisa's reunion after their first night apart. Both were in tears.
The rest of the week we took it easy. Well, Lisa and I did. E, on the other hand, was booked. Opa took him to the gym several times over the week. Tante Ness and (soon-to-be) Uncle Tanner got home from New Zealand. On Friday, they took him to a winery (he loved assessing the 'nose' of the wine, as you can see) and then I met up with them at the Fish Market for dinner (poor Lisa stayed home). And, poor me...it's very hard to eat Ciopinno without Mommy there to help. Luckily, there were enough family members to keep him occupied, but let's just say I didn't feel like Father of the Year.
By Saturday, Lisa's fever was gone and she was feeling much better, but she still took it pretty easy. I took E to his friend Jr.'s birthday party with Uncle Brian. We also said bye to Tanner as he headed back to Alaska (Tante Ness is staying here for a couple of weeks). By Sunday, Lisa was stir crazy...so we took E to early Mass and then met Uncle Ron for breakfast. Tante Ness and I took E to gym class while Lisa rested and then we all had the usual delicious Sunday dinner over at Oma and Opa's.
This week, E learned how to 'high-five.' He tried...and LOVED...little bites of pear (not pureed). He wasn't as sure about the little bites of banana or avocado. And he gummed a spaghetti noodle for a long time and then we still found it in his mouth half an hour later.
We're hoping Lisa continues to feel better (and that E and I don't contract it) so she's 100% well for all the coming adventures!
