Things have been quite active in our neck of the woods. The baby is moving a lot in Lisa's belly. We've been moving stuff out of the guest room and into the garage (or off to charity) so that the guest room can become E's room, and the nursery can become the baby's room...feels like we're inside of a life-sized puzzle. Last weekend, Lisa and I went on a date to Amaluna by Cirque du Soleil (big thanks to Oma and Uncle Bri for babysitting). And E discovered that he can run through the halls, "so fast."
So far, the week has been a whirlwind (but a fun one). Through a series of circumstances involving a mild fever for Opa, a university speaking engagement for Lisa, and juggling of meetings at work, Lisa, E, and I took a quick day trip to Cal Poly on Tuesday. We left about 8:30, which wasn't bad considering we wanted to be out of the house at 8. Dropped Lisa off at her event at 11:30 and spent an hour at a local park picnicking, sliding, and swinging. I'd hoped to drive to the coast and walk around there while E napped in the stroller, but the big guy fell asleep about a minute into the car ride over. He looked too peaceful to attempt much of a transfer, so I drove around for 90 minutes, watching the waves and exploring the rolling hills. After he woke, we went to the bookstore on campus and he had a great time looking at all the Cal Poly paraphernalia. We picked Lisa up for an early, speedy dinner at the San Luis Obispo cornerstone, Firestone Grill, where we had our tri-tip and french fry fix. Then we dropped Lisa back on campus for one more presentation while we wandered through downtown. With a full tank of gas and a cup of coffee, we headed home, arriving around 10:30 pm to a pair of excited dogs! A long, fun day.
- He's become fascinated with the little whirlpool at the end of his bath. More often than not, when you ask him about how his bath went, he'll mention the whirlpool.
- The other day, we were eating breakfast and I did something that made him laugh. He turned to Lisa and said, "Dada funny." (Guess, he's already learning how to butter me up). We've no clue where he picked up the concept of funny, but we sure thought E was funny when he said it!
- When asked what he wants to do with Mommy's baby when it arrives, he replies, "Hold it."
- He's getting to be very polite too (wouldn't expect anything less after spending his days with Opa). Tonight on our walk with the dogs, Bailey coughed and E looked over from the stroller and pronounced, "Bess you, Bee!" <translation: Bless you, Bailey>. Whatta-Kid.
